SurveyLang developed computer-based familiarisation materials for its language assessments in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. These were developed to enable students and teachers participating in the survey to familiarise themselves with the navigation screens of the computer-based tests as well as to see exemplar listening and reading tasks in computer-based format. These materials were made available to schools participating in the survey and were designed to ensure that in advance of taking the actual computer-based language tests, students were familiar with the computer-based system and with different task types so that they understood the instructions and different types of response required.
The computer-based demonstration materials must be downloaded and installed on your computer. Before installing the demonstrations you need to install a program called the Adobe AIR Runtime environment. To do this, do the following:
There are five different demonstrations available - one for each test language (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish). After downloading the right demonstration, you can also select which European language you would like the navigation for the system in. Then press 'Start'. For each demonstration version, there is an audio check and Listening and Reading test tasks. Use the password '9999' to log-on to the demonstration.
If you would like to see the answers for the tasks on the demonstration, see the corresponding test language: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish.
Further guidance on how to navigate the demonstration tests can be found in the following documents. Select the European language version you would like to help you with the demonstration.
Please note that in the Guidelines and in the actual tests, there is a Questionnaire button for students to access the Student Questionnaire. In the demonstration version, however, this option is not available.
